Pharmacy Technician Training Program Description:
The Pharmacy Technician training program teaches the skills needed to gain employment as a Pharmacy Tech in either the hospital or retail setting. The objective of the Pharmacy Technician Program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions in pharmacies as well as prepare for national certification.
Pharmacy Technician Job Market:
After successful completion of this course the students will be eligible for employment in Physician’s Offices, Hospitals, Laboratories, Nursing Homes, Group Practices, Medical Supplies and Insurance Companies.
Pharmacy Technician Course Objective:
- Define the differences between the hospital and retail pharmacy setting
- Demonstrate ethical conduct in all duties
- Understand the laws that govern pharmacy, whether federal or state mandated
- Interpret physician orders and prescriptions
- Prepare and distribute medications
- Define medical and pharmaceutical terms and common abbreviations
