Patient Care Technician (PCT) Course Description:
As a Patient Care Technician, you will work closely with doctors and other medical professionals in administering therapeutic programs and monitoring the condition of your patients. You will use your technical knowledge to provide the direct patient care including phlebotomy (blood work) and EKG’s. This course prepares individuals as entry level Nursing Technicians. Students must have passed the Nursing Assistant Exam and be certified.
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Job Responsibilities:
Your job responsibilities will include monitoring patients for changes in condition and recording and reporting those changes, setting up and operating therapeutic equipment, instruction and supervising patients about rehabilitative therapy, helping to carry out planned patient care programs and assisting medical staff in changing dressings and conducting patient exams.
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Job Market:
After successful completion of this course the PCT will be eligible for employment in Nursing Homes, Home Care, Long Term Care facility, Physical Therapy Centers, Rehabilitation Centers and Hospitals.
